This is the first in a series of recipes I refer to as "bachelor chow." These are recipes for bachelors who don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen but want something tasty, satisfying and at least somewhat nourishing. Obviously, the recipe was inspired by classic chicken stroganoff meaning stroganoff but I wanted something aimed towards the bachelor. Except for the time the dish spends simmering, this doesn't take very long to make. The recipe's hardest feature will simply be in assembling the dish. After the recipe I'll offer a few notes on varying the dish. You know how it is being a bachelor, sometimes when you latch onto a dish you want to keep doing it because it's easy. A few simple variations will help keep the dish from becoming boring.
You have to be very creative in the kitchen so that you don't miss out on making this tasty meal. You can cook a best slow cooker beef stroganoff on a low budget by using a cheaper cut such as chuck roast. This cut of meat will be tougher than the more expensive ones but you can easily work around the problem by increasing the cooking time slightly and browning the meat well before you add the sour cream. You can even pressure cook the meat in a bit of broth before you add the sour cream. The resultant meal will be delicious and tender. Pressure cooking the meat will also help you use less cooking fuel. You could also reduce the amount of meat and increase the amount of mushrooms in order to reduce the cost.
